Fox Finds a Flame was created through abstract gestures, with no intention of knowing what the painting would become. After following the flow of movement, Eve caught a glimpse of a fox jumping within the canvas.

The discovery reminded Eve of her sketch practice, which she has been doing since 2001—searching for illustrations and characters within her scribbles. There is a freedom in allowing the art to reveal itself, giving her the ability to see, discover, and play with what is found. Much like finding shapes in the clouds.

With more observation and time spent journeying with the spirit of the fox, the painting soon became a story: a relentless, curious, and adventurous fox who wants nothing more than to find the flame, no matter how complicated the maze may be.

The moon is full, offering another layer of illusion in the search for the hidden treasure that awaits. Drawn by desire, we seek comfort, discovery, and play.
